The population pyramid shows that the number of children and adults, both women and female, are pretty equal to each other. New Zealand is in stage 4 of the DTM for this reason because they don't have too many babies being born, nor too little. Looking at the population pyramids over the years, I can conclude many things. From 1950 to 1970, the younger population grew the most and the teens and children had a bigger population than the adults. From 1975 to 2000, the younger population becomes more equivalent to the middle aged to older population, but the adults are a little bigger than the children. From 2000 to 2015, the population continues getting more equivalent between the ages. The pyramids for 2050 and 2090 are almost the same. They both show that the adults and children are almost equal, if not equal to each other. This is because New Zealand is in stage 4 of the DTM and the population growth is gradual. If the adults and children are equal, the children won't be more than the adults and the adults won't be more than the children, which is exactly what a stage 4 country wants. There are more females than males and they have a longer life expectancy, which is why there is more white on the older female side than there is on the older male side. Also, looking at the median age, we can see that women have a higher number. However, when we look at the age structure, we see that there are more working age people than
